Believe it or not, I just finished reading Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice for the first time! Here are some of the quotes I found very entertaining and/or thought provoking. Because they are taken so out of context, I'm providing page numbers (from an edition that I can't find online):
The more I see of the world, the more dissatisfied I am with it. (133)
Is not general incivility the very essence of love? (139)
Stupid men are the only ones worth knowing, after all (152)
Vanity, not love, has been my folly... til this moment, I never knew myself. (202)
One has got all the goodness, the other all the appearance of it. (217)
Bingley was ready, Georgiana was eager, and Darcy determined, to be pleased. (250)
How little of permanent happiness could belong to a couple who were only brought together because their passions were stronger than their virtue, she could easily conjecture. (296)
Think only of the past as its remembrance gives you pleasure (248)
Elizabeth - "You might have talked more when you came to dinner."
Darcy - "A man who had felt less, might." (360)
